Enzyme Support Engineering and Application
This work package, lead by CLEA Technologies, will provide immobilised enzymes engineered for optimal performance under process conditions of the cascade reactions involved in redox neutral transamination.
CLEA Technologies is an internationally recognized provider of solutions in biocatalysis. Years of experience combined with a unique immobilization technology have made CLEA experts in biocatalytic process development and enzyme immobilization.
Cross Linked Enzyme Aggregates (CLEAs) are highly attractive immobilised biocatalysts due to the broad applicability of the technology and the lack of the need for often expensive carrier materials. Of the enzymes involved within AMBIOCAS CLEAs will be prepared as well as combi-cleas containing all the enzymes in one biocatalyst. CombiCLEAs are cross linked enzyme aggregates of multiple enzymes in one CLEA able to perform multi enzyme cascade reactions with one single biocatalyst. Besides CLEAs alternative immobilisation methods will be developed using carrier material and gel type matrices. The performance of these immobilised biocatalysts will be compared in pilot studies to find the optimal solution for industrial application of the redox neutral cascades from alcohols to chiral amines.
